Gathering of acrheolology students meeting
On Tuesday 13 January, Wouter Vos, Jeroen Oosterbaan, Lianne te Winkel, Geert Roovers and Saskia Stevens gathered in Deventer with dozens of archaeology students from Saxion to celebrate the students’ involvement in the C-Limes minor. The meeting focused on their important contribution to this project.
Over the course of three years, 70 students worked on digitising, repackaging and cataloguing material, as well as compiling a database. Thanks to their efforts, the largest known Roman cemetery along the Limes has now been fully inventoried. The organised material will soon be returned to the depot in Zuid-Holland, ready for new research. It has been completely sorted by C-Limes number, marking an important milestone for Roman studies in the Netherlands.
These results would not have been possible without the commitment of all students, student assistants and colleagues. Many thanks go to everyone who shared their knowledge of cemeteries and thus contributed to the success of this project.
